I met Brian Sheppard, Irvine California resident, almost at the beginning of the Franz Josef Glacier trailhead. We hit it off immediately and hiked together to the FJ glazier’s edge. The juxtaposition of having sub tropical rain forest so close to a glazier is a stunning and almost an unbelievable sight. I took plenty of pictures and will post a more detailed thread about this experience later today or tomorrow because I am on the road this morning – heading to Hamner Springs. I will spend the remainder of my time relaxing in thermal pools, before making the short drive to Christchurch (for my flight to my next destination, Sydney, Australia).
Everywhere you’ve gone so far has beautiful vistas. Thanks for posting such a complete set of pix from your adventure…keep enjoying and posting!
Sandy, thank you much! I hope you and yours are well!
Steve, how was your soak? I was soaking today, too, in Ouray. Met some fabulous people and had delicious conversation.
Can’t wait to see pics from your hike today! Brian must be a big guy to be that much taller than you!
Hi Leah, I haven’t yet. I have been explorimg the town and had a traditional lamb lunch. Delicious!
