Mike Lince, AKA “Global Explorer,” acknowledged me with this nomination months ago (January 27th), but the combination of “spitting out” blog threads at a furious pace while on my round the world trip, my inefficient tablet, and more often than not, a poor WIFI connection kept me from completing the nomination form. Oh, I am also lazy. 🙂

Thank you very much for the recognition Mike! By the by, if you get a chance, visit Mike’s excellent blog page, Applecore. Now I have a mea culpa to fess up to – My blog has been nominated for this award a couple of other times as well, but for the life of me, I can’t recall who these people are, except for one person who nominated me recently. Her name is Jackie, who goes by the nick, “TravelJackie.” Jackie’s blog page, Postcards, Photos and Passports, is a favorite of mine as well.

Post 7 interesting things about yourself
1. I was a “whistle blower” against the Federal Government.
2. After being certified by the State of Colorado to enter State prisons, I was a volunteer who visited these prisons weekly for 3 years, where I spoke to inmate groups about spirituality, alcoholism, and drug abuse.
3. I trained my pet, Shasta to do a variety of tricks – roll over, play dead, turn in a circle, beg on her rear haunches, shake hands/high five, jump through a hula hoop, etc. – and I took her to local senior rest homes and she entertained the senior residents.
4. I volunteered for President Obama’s first presidential campaign.
5. I can juggle.
6. I can do handstand pushups.
7. When I was in my early 20s and living in England, I once played the number #2 ranked table tennis player for that country. Yes, he kicked my ass.
You are a man of many talents, as is your dog, Shasta. My wife and I also campaigned for Obama in 2008. LOL – I loved #7 on your list!
I found you particularly deserving of this award given that you not only traveled exhaustively, but you also found time to write and share your experiences. Well done, Steve!
De nada Mike. I hope you and your wife have fun during your six month stay in Scotland. I love that country.
Thank you so much for the nomination! Yours is a well-deserved honor, and I enjoyed reading the tidbits about you. I’m impressed by your dog-training skills, too!
Tricia, you’re welcome and I thank you as well.

Ahh, thank you so much Shari. There are so many wonderful and memorable moments I will take from this trip, as well as lessons learned. I hope you and yours are well my friend! By the by, I will be in Sunnyvale in mid-August through the 1st week in September. Perhaps, we can get the old gang together? Let me know . . .
This is coming to you a little late, but thank you so much for the award! It was awesome to follow you around the world, and I’m glad you made it back in one piece. Hope you are enjoying the awesome weather we’ve been getting this spring. Thanks again!
De nada George. I went to the Arts Festival yesterday in Boulder and the weather was glorious. Not too many places as beautiful as Colorado.
Hi Steve, welcome back to the good ol USA. Thanks so much for the kind words!
I’ll be rereading your New Zealand posts before we head there in October.
It was fun “traveling” with you.
Shelley, again, thank you for the comments. Hopefully, a couple of my NZ posts will steer you to a couple of the destinations I visited and/or provide information you can use on your trip there in October. I am so excited for you because New Zealand is such a beautiful, almost secret destination.
I read your 7 interesting facts with a smile 🙂 , its really interesting!
Your blog is awesome, it seems I have to spare a time to read all of that. You traveled around the world and south east asia, but you missed a beautiful country between asia and aussy, Indonesia, your traveled will complete if you visit this country 🙂
Hey there Tia! Thank you for stopping by and commenting. You are right, I will have to visit Indonesia on this trip. Giggling here. Thank you for commenting and feel free to make any other comments or suggestions . . . Steve 🙂
